Description
Microsoft SQL Server 2025 Standard Volume licence
With SQL Server 2025 Standard, Microsoft is expanding its well-established
database platform by adding new AI-powered features,
greater performance
headroom and targeted performance optimisations.
The Standard edition is aimed
at organisations looking to modernise their SQL infrastructure and scale it to
cope with growing data
volumes and increasing demands.
Whether it’s document management, CRM, ERP, inventory
management or bespoke business applications – SQL Server 2025 Standard
provides
a robust foundation for business-critical processes.
Integrated AI features and semantic search
SQL Server 2025 enhances the traditional database with
modern AI features.
Semantic search and vector data processing make it possible
to analyse content not only by keywords but also by meaning.
This opens up new
possibilities, such as intelligent search functions, similarity analyses or
AI-powered applications
that can be utilised directly within the existing
database structure.
Noticeable performance improvement compared to previous
versions
With support for up to 32 CPU cores and 256 GB of RAM, SQL
Server 2025 Standard significantly raises the performance limits of the
previous version (2019 Standard: maximum of 24 cores).
As a result, SQL Server
2025 Standard handles even large volumes of data with ease
and remains highly
responsive, even with many concurrent accesses. The improved query optimisation
also speeds up complex database queries.
At the same time, more efficient
backup compression reduces storage requirements and backup times.
State-of-the-art security
With support for TLS 1.3, improved password hashing methods
and enhanced security mechanisms, SQL Server 2025 Standard meets the latest
data protection and compliance requirements. Sensitive business data remains
reliably protected.
High availability for day-to-day operations
The system remains stable even under heavy load – a crucial
factor for productive business processes.
Proven high-availability features and
optimised recovery mechanisms help to minimise downtime.
Long-term investment security
Microsoft has defined a long-term support period for SQL
Server 2025. Security updates will be provided as part of extended support
until 6 January 2036.
Organisations will therefore receive regular security updates
over many years and can operate their database environment securely in the long
term.
With the Server + CAL model,
a separate SQL Server CAL is required for each user or device accessing the
server.
