For Windows 10 and the 2016 and 2019 versions of Microsoft Office, Exchange Server, Project and Visio, the time has come on 14 October 2025: Microsoft is discontinuing extended support. On this page, we will give you a brief overview of what this means, what you need to do and how used software licences from usedSoft can help you.
What does “end of support” actually mean?
After support ends, there is no more technical support or other bug fixes – and above all no more security updates. The software continues to run – but with risks, because Microsoft no longer closes emerging security gaps. Companies that ignore this therefore offer cyber criminals a broad attack surface. Not only are they easy victims, but they may also be in breach of their compliance obligations.
End of support – what to do?
The solution is to upgrade to a successor version. There are several options available to you for most Microsoft products: A switch to subscription and cloud solutions, the purchase of a current programme version or one of the successor versions that will continue to be supported.
Save on version upgrades with used software
usedSoft offers a wider choice with used licences: Microsoft itself only ever offers the latest version of its software. These are also available second-hand and are often cheaper than buying new. However, usedSoft also offers you previous versions. Their range of functions is completely sufficient for many companies. And: You can really save money
