Windows Operating System. Win XP Professional (Microsoft®)
With a RAM with a minimum of 64 MB and a hard disk need of at least 1,5 Gigabyte, the introduction of Windows XP in October 2001 required the purchase of new hardware by the users to enable a successful start of the new operating system of the company Microsoft®.
The XP-version originates from the network line of Microsoft operating systems and, therefore, is the successor of Windows 2000. At the same it superseded the prior MS-DOS
version, Windows Millenium Edition (Win ME). Nevertheless there is no server version of Windows XP, so that the server-line of Windows Server 2003 will be carried on.
The major versions of the operating system are the Professional Version for corporate purposes, the XP-Home-Edition for end-consumers, the Media Center Edition for special multimedia-computers and the hardware related TabletPC-Version, which involves specific options for laptops/notebooks which have been optimized for pen control.
XP is in the position to offer a multitude of new features and upgrades, whereas besides a remote maintenance of the system, improved multimedia functions and above all the system recovery functions and the improved firewall security are outstanding. The updated system monitoring, the extended start menu as well as the comfortable user change should also be pointed out.
