Windows Operating System. Win 95 (Microsoft®)
Windows 95 (Win 95) is an operating system which has been launched by the company Microsoft® in 1995 and which has been targeted at the end consumer. This served as a basis for the 9x-line of the Windows operating systems. Windows 95 existed in different versions, whereas the later ones could only be found in form of OEM versions which were preinstalled on servers.
Apart from a hard disk storage of 50 MB Windows 95 required at least 4 MB RAM up to 8 RAM working storage, depending on the individual version, whereas often larger hard disks and working storages would have been recommendable for an operation with only a little to complain about.
Windows 95, as any other Microsoft® operating system, has been developed under a code name, i.e. provisional title ("Chicago") before it has been tested by a small group in February 1995 and then presented to the public in August 1995.
New features were, among others, the start-menu, the extended user surface, the task bar, the data name extension up to 255 symbols and the replacement of the file manager by the Explorer.
