MS Access 2003 (Microsoft®)

Microsoft Access 2003 is a well-known database software which is also delivered as a package with other applications for data processing, table calculations and presentations. (Office Professional).

In contrast to the usual office-tools the multi-user MS Access is only applicable on Windows platforms. The latest version is MS Access 2003. The databases can be addressed via interfaces (e.g. via Open Data Base Connectivity (ODBC) or ActiveX Data Objects), or also via other programming languages.

In reverse also external databases can be addressed and imported via ODBC.

MS Access supports the relational database model, offers programmers possibilities for the development of independent Access-based applications and has been making a free-of-charge SQL-Server available since Access 2000. Added to that a developing environment for the programming language Visual Basic has been included.

MS Access 2003 offers the standard XML (Extensible Markup Language) for the data exchange with other applications or databases and generally supports the integration of data for form sheets and reports from programs like Excel or other Access databases. Access provides the option of a cooperation with the SQL-Server.
